Introducing the Book "Collection of Guidelines for Monitoring Environmental Pollutants"

The role and importance of monitoring as the foundation of decision-making in environmental management and the preservation of environmental quality is clear to everyone. Therefore, any planning in this field requires a proper understanding and recognition of the quantitative and qualitative status of environmental resources and the examination of their pollution trends. In fact, appropriate management in the face of pollution can only be applied when monitoring data, including the monitoring of environmental resources (water, soil, air) and the monitoring of pollutant-emission sources (industries and services), are sufficiently and acceptably valid in terms of correctness and precision. Accordingly, in all stages of pollution monitoring, including the presence of the monitoring person in the area being monitored, locating the sampling site, sampling, sample preparation, transport of the sample to the laboratory, analysis, processing, and interpretation, the accuracy and precision of measurements are very important. The book "Collection of Guidelines for Monitoring Environmental Pollutants" has been prepared and compiled with the aim of gathering the technical and specialized methods and guidelines used as the basis for measuring and monitoring pollutants. This book is the result of the collective effort of the experts of the Comprehensive Monitoring Office of the Department of Environment and can be used as a useful book for specialists and experts in the field of pollution. It should be noted that the rapid advancement of technology, the dynamic nature of the subject, and the emergence of new pollutants make updating and developing the guidelines and methods unavoidable, and their improvement and enhancement will undoubtedly remain on the agenda of the specialized sections of this office.
