This book has been prepared with the aim of presenting practical material related to this group of devices, as well as their correct use and maintenance.
We hope that compiling this collection can help protect and maintain the resources and gas-supply facilities in industries and across cities, and ultimately help safeguard the health of technical staff, subscribers, and the environment.
The expansion of the gas industry, owing to its numerous applications in the chemical industries, power plants, large industries, and especially in everyday human life, brought this important topic to the fore and gave it particular significance for gas-distribution companies and especially their operations divisions.

In gas-distribution companies, the most common use of these devices, in addition to safety units, HSE experts, and technical-inspection leak-detection teams, is in the maintenance, operations, and emergency-response units. On the other hand, maintenance and operations contractors also need to procure and use these devices in some operational tasks; therefore, the relevant personnel in the aforementioned sections must become specially and professionally familiar with the various devices commonly referred to as "gas detectors," and in different operations select and use the appropriate device.
