Book Review: Working at Heights Safety
In construction projects, from ancient fortresses in the past to skyscrapers in today's modern cities, in occupations requiring work at height, there has always been a danger of death and serious injury. Although today greater attention is paid to preventing such accidents in the industries of various countries, including Iran, these accidents still occur with worrying frequency, and despite remarkable advances in equipment design and safety knowledge, falls from height remain one of the most frequent causes of accidents in industries throughout the world.   تصویر مربوط به کتاب ایمنی کار در ارتفاع- اثر دکتر مهدی جهانگیری، مهندس سعید خلیجی- انتشارات حک   According to figures provided by the UK Health and Safety Executive, in 2017 falls from height, at 28 percent, accounted for the highest rate among causes of fatal accidents. Falls from height also caused 43,000 injury accidents, about 60 percent of which occurred due to falls from ladders, scaffolding, fragile roofs, and edges. Given the need to compile comprehensive information on the fundamentals of safety for work at height, this book has been written in five chapters. In the first chapter, generalities about work at height are presented, including common definitions and terms, national and international legal requirements, risk assessment, and the management of work at height. The second chapter of the book addresses the subject of fall prevention, and the various protective methods for preventing a person's fall are examined. The third chapter comprises methods for controlling the severity of the consequences of a fall, and addresses the principles of post-fall protection. Comprehensive information regarding personal protective equipment for work at height is presented in the fourth chapter, and finally in the fifth chapter, methods for preventing falling objects are addressed.
