Working Safely at Height

Throughout construction projects, from ancient fortresses in the past to skyscrapers in today's modern cities, jobs that require working at height carry the danger of death and serious injury. Given the need to gather comprehensive information about the principles of safety in working at height, some general points on this subject are noted below:
Fall prevention
As you know, in industrial environments there are many dangers, such as moving materials in industrial settings, working near rotating machinery, working near large acid vessels, and, more importantly, falling from height, which threatens the lives of workers. Many of these falls are predictable and even preventable, and they can be avoided by using appropriate control methods. Protection after a fall
In many workplaces, eliminating or preventing falls is, for various reasons, not possible. In these conditions, methods are employed using protective equipment to stop the person in a safe position. This means that if a person, for any reason, falls, the fall-protection equipment, after the fall, in order to control the two factors of fall distance and the force resulting from the fall, comes into action and stops the person in the safest possible state.
Fall-protection equipment Protective equipment used with the aim of ensuring the safety and health of workers is produced in three different types depending on the level of protection and complexity.
Group one: the simplest type, providing protection against minor injuries, minor environmental contamination, and matters related to general health and hygiene.
Group two: includes equipment designed with the aim of protection against harm arising from work and equipment.
Group three: equipment that protects the person against potentially fatal and lethal hazards arising from the job.
Preventing falling tools and objects Just as the fall of people inflicts irreparable injuries on them, the fall of objects and tools is also one of the important causes of injury and even death in industrial work environments. The impact of a falling object, depending on its height and weight, can strike a person with different forces.
Although today more attention is being paid to preventing such accidents in the industries of various countries, including Iran, these accidents still occur with worrying frequency. Despite remarkable advances in equipment design and safety knowledge, falling from height is still one of the most frequent causes of accidents in industry. It is hoped that the book Safety of Working at Height can play a useful role in ensuring the safety of working at height for the workers of our dear country, Iran.
