Safety at Home
Today, with the advance of technology in the world and its spread throughout the world, we witness accidents or, in other words, the consequences arising from it. For example, the manufacture of high-speed cars, apart from raising the level of comfort and ease, unfortunately leads to unfortunate accidents as a result of unauthorized speed, and this itself gives cause for reflection. For this reason, the importance of safety in the daily life of human beings is very tangible, and giving importance and attention to it will result in the health and safety of people's lives. Unfortunately, in our country the matter of safety, despite the repetition of accidents and mishaps in various places and despite knowledge of the risk among the general public, is not given attention. Of course, some of its causes can be sought in cultural issues. All the matters expressed in this article are themselves a science or a branch of science. But because not everyone has access to the necessary expertise, one must use specialists in this field or, by applying the minimum points, prevent possible hazards; likewise you, dear readers, can, by obtaining the book "Safety in the Home " from Hak Publications, study the specialized points of safety in the home and bring a safe place to yourself and your family. Below, some safety points in the home are mentioned: 1) Suitable lighting in the home environment: In many cases, people need illumination for reading, writing, and carrying out their daily tasks in the home environment. Illumination by light is divided into two categories, natural and artificial. Light being too little or too much can damage both eyes. Just as the eye reacts to too much light and closes involuntarily, it also reacts to low light, and in these cases people, in order to see better, open their eyes wider and strain the eye in an effort to increase their visual power. This act is very dangerous from the standpoint of safety and health. Scientifically, a human needs light with an intensity of 200 to 250 lux for ordinary tasks, and this precise measurement is impossible without a measuring device. So one can approximately say that the best distance for placing lamps (artificial light) on the ceiling is about 3 meters; of course, depending on the type of lamp, the distance can be more or less. As a second step, a combination of two lights, yellow and white, is the most ideal lighting for the human eye. In designs for lighting with natural light, one can say, because the country of Iran is located in the northern hemisphere of the Earth and sunlight shines on our land at an angle from the south of the country, that building designs must be such that achieving maximum light during the day is possible. Thus the windows of a building must be located on the south, southeast, and southwest sides. 2) Sound in the place of residence: In many places, residential homes are located near streets, highways, or busy routes accompanied by the loud noise of vehicles or industrial and construction workshops, and for this reason the home environment is affected by the disturbing noise of the external environment. The most suitable state for rest and comfort is the presence of 50 decibels of sound during the day and 40 decibels at night. If, during the rest period, this amount increases, the human ear does not rest completely and constantly tries to control and reduce the effects of the excess noise. To prevent such an occurrence, two methods are needed: eliminating sound and reducing sound. Eliminating sound is, in many cases, not within the individual's control, and naturally no special measure can be taken in this regard, but to reduce sound one can use double-glazed windows or special engineering methods. 3) The danger of vibration in the home: In the modern world and mechanized life, where all tools and appliances have become electric, much noise arises in the home and place of residence, which has destructive effects on human health. In general, all mechanized appliances used in the place of residence and living expose humans to vibration, which can disturb comfort and ease and also reduce effective work, and as a result causes a destructive effect on people's health and safety. In general, vibrations are divided into two categories: 3-1) Vibration resulting from working with appliances: Appliances such as the electric mixer, meat grinder, blender, chopper, etc. These appliances, while operating, transmit vibration to the body, and if a person is continuously, or as a permanent occupation, exposed to these vibrations; over the long term, it can cause harm to the body. 3-2) External vibrations of the building: In buildings, depending on the type of their construction, the degree of prevention of incoming vibration differs. Therefore, buildings are considered resistant that, with suitable concreting in the floor or foundation of the building, can minimize the vibration load incoming to the building. For example, they reduce the vibration resulting from the passage of heavy vehicles. As mentioned at the beginning of this article; unfortunately in our society, safety is not in its true place, and every day we have witnessed many accidents that result from negligence of safety matters. The book Safety in the Home , by clarifying the issues and matters that are given very little importance in today's society and that consequently have led to unfortunate and tragic accidents, addresses them, and finally, by providing very simple instructions, encourages members of society to observe simple but key points in the subject of safety in the home.
